The management of most of Gateshead's leisure services changed on 1 April 2025.

Birtley Leisure Centre continues to be operated collaboratively by Gateshead Council and Lifestyle Fitness.

Blaydon, Dunston and Heworth leisure centres, and Gateshead International Stadium are now managed by GLL, under the name Better.
