As the NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme has relocated to Blaydon Winlaton Children's Centre, Blaydon Leisure Centre will now be reopening.

We're pleased to confirm that the pools will reopen on weekday evenings from Monday 4 October and fitness classes will resume from Monday 11 October. The gym reopened on 20 September.

This means that all of our leisure centres are now open to GO Gateshead members and casual customers. However, due to ongoing issues with staff availability, some activity programmes remain limited and opening hours are still restricted. Please check online for timetables.

From 4 October, pre-booking will no longer be compulsory for Swim for All sessions at any of our sites (though it is still advised to reduce queues at reception). Lane swimming must still be booked online or by phone. This is based on customer feedback which highlighted that many lane swimmers prefer pre-booking to manage the number of swimmers per lane.

Further information will be released shortly regarding the resumption of some swimming lessons.

Also from 4 October, pre-booking for fitness classes will still be recommended but customers will be able to turn up and take part in a class by booking at reception if spaces are available.

Pre-booking is no longer needed for gym sessions.

Other Covid safety measures remain in place at all leisure centres, including social distancing, hand sanitisers and recommended use of face coverings. Thank you for continuing to respect these measures and for playing your part in keeping our facilities safe for everyone.

We appreciate your continued patience as we reach the final stages of our phased approach to reopening. We are in the process of recruiting more leisure staff and we will continue to review our services in line with staff availability, demand for Covid-19 support and other essential services and public health advice.
