In February 2021 Gateshead Council set its annual budget for 2021/22. To help balance the budget, a review of current leisure services also commenced in February 2021. Our long-term proposal is to transform leisure services to better meet local needs, so completing this review will take some time and this survey is the next step in that process.
Covid-19 has had a major impact on our leisure facilities due to closures through lockdowns, but also because of Covid-19 related staff shortages due to sickness and self-isolation.
We want to understand who uses our leisure centres and swimming pools, what services and facilities residents access and why they choose to use particular sites. This will help us to gain insight into the use of our facilities across Gateshead and help us to develop options to reshape our future leisure offer.
If you use or are thinking about using Blaydon, Heworth, Gateshead or Dunston leisure centres, Birtley swim centre or Gateshead International Stadium, we would like to hear your views.
This is the latest phase of ongoing consultation and engagement. We will use this information in the development of more detailed proposals and impact assessments as part of the review process.
The survey closes on 10 March 2022.
