GO Gateshead becomes Better from 1 April
Gateshead Council will continue to operate Birtley Leisure Centre in partnership with Lifestyle Fitness (opens new window).
About GLL
GLL is a charitable organisation with a mission to make a real difference for communities across the UK. They already work with local councils across the UK to run more than 250 Better sports and leisure centres and now their experience, passion and investment is set to benefit GO Gateshead members, visitors and partners.
You'll still enjoy the same great facilities and activities, and you'll still see the same friendly team members when you visit.
Direct debits
If you pay for your membership or swimming lessons by direct debit, there's nothing you need to do as your details will be automatically and securely transferred.
GLL will write to all direct debit customers by 14 March with more information, including your Better membership number.
If you would like to cancel your membership, you must email go@gateshead.gov.uk and provide 30 days' notice. You'll need to include your membership number, name and address.
Timetables
There will be no immediate changes to opening hours and timetables for swimming and fitness classes. Any future updates will be shared through the Better UK app and website, as well as being displayed in your leisure centre.
You'll need your Better membership number to register to use the app, so please don't try to create an account before you've received this.
